My journey of the Magi: in reverse and up a mountain

I will be adding a new map as I find time to make. The first is "My journey of the Magi: in reverse and up a mountain". A trip I went on in the Spring and Summer of 2000. Having been lucky enough to catch the travel bug early on I was fortunate enough to have traveled to the Asian Sub-Continent in 1993-94 and again in 1997. When I returned from the 94' adventure I was gifted a copy of "Empire of the Soul: Some journeys in India" by P.W.R. . I enjoyed his comical observations and valiant effort to demystify and extricate the dogmatic nature of the religion of the area as only he can. So I was pleasantly surprised to pick up his copy of "The Journey of the Magi: In search of the birth of Jesus" in and around the year of 1996. 1. Andy: We were just talking about PWRoberts yesterday here and wondering where this angelic writer is now and how is he coping with his condition. I'm impressed with your venture into relating stories of your travels; they were interesting and you were such a free spirit. I don't know if one could strike out today as you did then and travel on a shoe string, let alone get through the many hoops that travelers have to jump through now. I'm looking forward to more on your blog. Mom

  2. I am happy to, again, contribute to your blog, Andy. I love the pictures. They reinforce my inner sense of what the middle east looks like - hot and sandy - devoid of vibrant shoots. How do these wonderful people that you encountered there, and that Greg Mordensen encountered when coming down off his glacier and recorded in "Three Cups of Tea" get to live such rich, full lives? How does a man see his world when surrounded by so much brown, brown brown? Would you go back? Mom
